Job Title: Retail Associate - Spanish Pig 

Location: 77 Roncesvalles Ave, Toronto

Position Summary

Spanish Pig, a gourmet Spanish food retailer with a shop in Toronto (Roncesvalles Ave) and a Canada-wide online presence, is seeking a customer-oriented Retail Associate. As a Retail Associate, you will play a vital role in creating a delightful shopping experience for our customers by offering exceptional service and sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for Spanish cuisine and products. Your dedication to providing top-notch customer service, maintaining operational effectiveness and your willingness to assist in multiple areas of the operation will contribute to the success and growth of our business.


  1. Customer Service Excellence: Greet and assist customers in a friendly and approachable manner. Respond to customer inquiries, offering guidance, and providing detailed information about our gourmet Spanish food products.
  2. Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various Spanish gourmet food items and their unique characteristics. Educate customers about the origins, flavours, and uses of products, enhancing their shopping experience and encouraging sales.
  3. Food Preparation: Prepare our gourmet Spanish sandwiches, drinks and more on customer demand each day, adhering to quality standards set out by management.
  4. Sales and Upselling: Recommend complementary products, promotional items, or add-ons to customers to increase sales and add value to their purchases. Utilize excellent communication skills to highlight the quality and distinctiveness of our product range.
  5. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring that shelves are well-stocked and organized. Regularly receive large shipments, unpack boxes and restock shelves, which at times may be physically demanding. Work closely with the management team to replenish inventory and report on popular or fast-selling items.
  6. Store Maintenance and Presentation: Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment daily. Participate in store merchandising activities, including setting up displays and arranging products attractively.
  7. Point-of-Sale and Online Order Fulfillment: Operate the point-of-sale machine accurately and efficiently, processing transactions, handling payments, and issuing receipts. Process online orders, including packing orders accurately and coordinating pick ups and deliveries with various courier companies.
  8. Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment for both employees and customers.


  • Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Passion for Spanish cuisine and gourmet food products.
  • Speaking Spanish is an asset but not necessary.
  • Food handling certificate is an asset.
  • Enthusiastic and friendly personality with a genuine desire to assist customers.
  • Strong product knowledge or willingness to learn about Spanish food items and their cultural significance.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during peak business hours.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
  • Experience with Shopify platform or comfortable with retail technology platforms is required.
