From the Estuaries of Galicia, Spain, comes the most wonderful small sardines in tomato sauce we have ever tried. This is a true Spanish food gem and we are very pleased to be able to offer it to you. Rich in vitamins D and B12, they are also an excellent source of calcium and omega-3 fatty acids. The Spanish believe canned seafood is a delicacy to be shared and enjoyed! They take great pride, and great care, to harvest the best seafood and package it with the utmost care. The result is the purest, most delicate, and exquisite tasting seafood on the planet! A true delicacy.

Do not be fooled by other sardines. “Conservas de Cambados” makes a "Gourmet" line, which is their highest quality. "Gourmet" is clearly at the top of the front label as shown in the photo, the "Conservas de Cambados" logo is prominently displayed, and the tin is rectangular with rounded corners. The seas off the coast of Galicia in Northwest Spain are cool and rich in nutrients, making them an incredible fishing ground. Their facilities are very close to where the seafood is harvested, so they are able to use the freshest fish and shellfish available.

We have never tried a sardine more delicate and mild than those of Galicia. They are harvested in small batches from the cool waters of the Rias, tidal rivers in north western Spain. The result is a tender, mild sardine, with the delicate taste of the sea but without any strong fishy flavors.

La Curiosa Spicy Sardines in Olive Oil (Sardinas Picantes en Aceite de Oliva) take the timeless Galician conserva and turn up the heat—just enough to awaken the palate without overpowering the delicate flavour of the fish. These sardines are caught off the cold, clean waters of the Galician coast, chosen for their ideal size and freshness, then prepared using traditional methods that honour the region’s rich culinary heritage.

Once steamed and cleaned by hand, the sardines are gently packed in high-quality Spanish olive oil infused with chilli. The result is a tin bursting with bold, balanced flavour: the natural umami of the sardines complemented by the warmth of the oil and a gentle kick of spice that lingers on the tongue. It’s a moreish, mouth-tingling twist on a classic, with just the right amount of fire.

As always, La Curiosa pairs artisanal quality with playful, stylish presentation—offering conservas that are as visually appealing as they are delicious. Their approach combines respect for traditional Galician seafood with a modern flair that makes each tin feel special.

Enjoy these spicy sardines on their own with crusty bread, layered over grilled vegetables, or tossed through a simple pasta with garlic and herbs. They also add a fantastic depth of flavour to rice dishes or make a standout tapa paired with a crisp Albariño or an ice-cold beer.

For those who love their conservas with a bit of heat, La Curiosa Spicy Sardines in Olive Oil offer a fiery, flavour-packed journey into the heart of Galicia—bold, vibrant, and utterly irresistible.

Güeyu Mar Chargrilled Smoked Sardine Tails in Extra Virgin Olive Oil showcase the extraordinary depth of flavour that can be achieved with a simple ingredient and masterful technique. Prepared in Asturias, northern Spain, these premium sardine tails are carefully selected before being cooked over a wood fire, capturing the distinctive character of Güeyu Mar’s celebrated seaside grill.

The chargrilling process gives the sardines a beautifully smoky aroma and a rich, savoury flavour, while gently crisping their exterior without compromising their tender, succulent texture. They are then packed by hand in high-quality extra virgin olive oil, which mellows the smokiness, keeps the fish moist and develops even greater complexity as it mingles with the natural juices of the sardines.

Each bite offers an enticing balance of clean ocean flavour, subtle wood smoke and fruity olive oil. The tails are especially prized for their firm, meaty texture and concentrated taste, making this an exceptional tin for anyone who appreciates conservas with real personality.

Serve them directly from the tin at room temperature, accompanied by crusty bread to soak up every drop of the smoky olive oil. They are also excellent with roasted peppers, tomato, pickled vegetables or a simple green salad. For an effortless tapas dish, arrange them on warm toast and finish with a squeeze of lemon.

At 5.3 oz, this generously sized tin is ideal for sharing—although sardine lovers may be reluctant to do so. A remarkable expression of traditional Spanish conservas elevated by live-fire cooking.
