Txakoli Katalin Iturzaeta is a beautifully crafted white wine from the prestigious Getariako Txakolina D.O. in Spain’s Basque Country. Produced in the coastal town of Getaria by the Aranzabal family, this exceptional wine pays tribute to their great-great-grandmother, Katalin Iturzaeta, whose determination and passion for viticulture laid the foundations for generations of winemaking. Today, the family continues that legacy by producing a small quantity of handcrafted Txakoli from vineyards overlooking the Bay of Biscay, where the Atlantic climate and steep hillside vineyards create ideal conditions for fresh, vibrant wines.

Made primarily from the indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri grape with a small proportion of Hondarrabi Beltza, the wine is fermented and aged on its lees for several months, adding texture and complexity while softening the naturally bright acidity associated with traditional Txakoli. The result is a wine that balances freshness with elegance, offering remarkable depth without losing its lively character.

In the glass, it displays a pale golden-yellow colour with brilliant reflections. Aromas of green apple, citrus zest, white flowers and grapefruit mingle with subtle herbal notes and a delicate hint of sea breeze. The palate is crisp and refreshing, featuring lively acidity, gentle mineral salinity and a faint natural spritz that enhances its energy. The finish is long, clean and beautifully balanced, making each sip irresistibly refreshing.
