Valdesil sobre lias 2024- Godello

Valdesil Sobre Lías 2024 is a beautifully textured white wine from Valdeorras, one of Spain’s great regions for Godello. Made from old-vine Godello and aged on its fine lees, it has that wonderful combination of freshness, depth and quiet elegance that makes this grape so exciting.

In the glass, it shows a pale golden colour with bright reflections. The nose is expressive but refined, with aromas of ripe pear, green apple, lemon peel, white flowers and a subtle mineral note that hints at the granitic soils of the region. There is also a gentle creamy texture from the lees ageing, adding roundness without making the wine feel heavy.

On the palate, it is fresh, precise and beautifully balanced. The fruit is clean and lifted, with citrus, orchard fruit and a touch of stone fruit, supported by a lovely saline edge. The lees contact gives the wine extra body and a smooth, almost silky mouthfeel, while the acidity keeps everything lively and refreshing.

This is a superb food wine. It works brilliantly with seafood, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy cheeses, rice dishes, conservas, anchovies, scallops and anything with a little olive oil and salt. Elegant enough for a special dinner, but easy enough to enjoy by the glass, Valdesil Sobre Lías 2024 is a classy, mineral-driven Godello with real personality.
